Synopsis
An intimate, revealing, and often quite humorous portrait of the Royal Family in crisis immediately following the death of Princess Diana, The Queen stars Helen Mirren as Queen Elizabeth II, James Cromwell as Prince Philip, and Michael Sheen as Tony Blair. Director Stephen Frears (My Beautiful Launderette, Dangerous Liaisons) claims to recreate the events of that week from the point of view of the Royal Family and Prime Minister Tony Blair, with a script based on interviews with insiders and royal observers.
