The Pool documents a day in the life of a huge public pool on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, through the point of view of an ex-convict park employee. We follow the custodian on his pre-dawn rounds and then watch as a progression of residents comes to enjoy the pool; yuppie power swimmers, octogenarians who have swum there since they were children, residents of a local shelter for homeless disabled people and children, seeking relief from an intensely hot summer’s day.
