Synopsis

For the first time, four Marines agree to talk about the 1997 shooting of U.S. citizen Esequiel Hernandez Jr. While herding his family’s goats, he was accidentally shot by a Marine. In this compelling new documentary, the Marines reflect on this tragic event, which occurred during their unit’s counter-narcotics mission in a Texas border town. The Marines must cope with killing a citizen they were sworn to protect, while the family tries to understand how this mistake can go unpunished.
