Synopsis

A testimony from the most influential New Orleans jazz and funk musicians about their musical heritage, their Katrina experience, their daily fight and hopes for the transmission of their culture, and, of course, their music. While Hurricane Katrina dispersed local musicians far and wide, it made them acutely aware of how precious and resilient our musical culture really is. Join David Torkanowsky, George Porter, Irvin Mayfield, Herlin Riley, Ellis Marsalis and many more as they expound eloquently on what it takes to keep the music alive, discussing the roles of high school bands, street parades, and family traditions in preserving our special brand of jazz, funk, and rhythm and blues.
