Synopsis

Set in the backwoods of Louisiana, Haynesville follows the historic discovery of the United States’ largest natural gas field called the Haynesville Shale.

The documentary examines the effect of the energy boom on three lives caught in the middle of the fervor: a single mom takes up the defense of her community’s environmental protections, an African American preacher attempts to use the riches to build a Christian school, and a salt-of-the-earth, self-described country boy finds himself conflicted as he weighs losing his land to an oil company’s offer to make him a millionaire.

The film also takes a hard look at the current energy picture and what the Haynesville Shale could possibly mean for a cleaner and greener energy future.
