NOFF Films Receive Spirit Award Nominations

The Independent Spirit Awards have been announced, and several films from the 2011 New Orleans Film Festival are among the nominees.
One of our Opening Night Selections, The Artist,was nominated for Best Feature, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Male Lead, and Best Cinematography.
Our Closing Night Selection, Martha Marcy May Marlene, was nominated for Best First Feature, Best Female Lead, Best Supporting Male, and the Piaget Producers Award.
Another NOFF selection, Take Shelter, was nominated for Best Feature, Best Director, Best Male Lead, and the Piaget Producers Award.
Other festival films receiving nominations include We Were Here for Best Documentary, An African Election for Best Documentary, and Melancholia for Best International Feature.
Additionally, the film Bellflower, which NOFS and Chalmette Movies jointly screened in fall 2011, was nominated for the John Cassavetes Award and Best Cinematography. And the film Bill Cunningham New York, which screened during the NOFS and Prytania’s Film-O-Rama festival in the spring, was nominated for Best Documentary.
